Settings

Every switch in one place, in six groups: Shop, Pricing, Paperwork, Customers, Money in, and You.

Settings is admin territory (everyone else sees Profile, Team and Account). Changes save as you edit, with no Save buttons to hunt for, and each page shows "Saved" in its header. Thirteen pages sit in six groups down the left. The few things you set once and forget live one tap further in: the ••• at the top right of a page opens them, each on its own page with a way back. Not sure where something is? Type it in Search settings at the top of the list ("tax", "dark mode", "commission", "card reader") and pick the hit.

Shop

  • Profile. Shop name, phone, email, website, address, your Google review link, and your logo. Upload any PNG, JPEG, WebP or SVG and we make it print well: empty edges trimmed, a light background behind a dark mark cleared away, and a logo that lives on a dark background kept as a neat rounded tile. It prints left of your shop name in the letterhead of every quote, invoice, PDF, estimate, work order, statement, inspection report, windshield reminder and the booking page, and heads every email we send your customers for you. A How it prints strip under the upload shows that letterhead at document scale. Business & compliance holds the legal identifiers that print on your invoices: Tax ID, BAR number, business license, EPA ID. What you work on holds three switches: engine-hours tracking for powersports units, fleet unit numbers (a Unit # on check-in and the vehicle, shown on the board and in search), and key tags and visit labels (off by default: a key-tag field at check-in, Add label and the key tag on the car header, the chip on the board and the Vehicles list).
  • Hours. Weekly opening hours, which drive scheduling. Closed days and holidays are set right on the Schedule; searching "holiday" here takes you there.
  • Team. Members, roles, invites, page access, schedule visibility, diag capability, working hours and commission rules. Who may message customers lives here too: turn it off and a technician's actions never text or email a customer. See Team and roles.

Pricing

  • Labor and parts. Default labor rate, labor rates (optional named rates such as Standard, Diagnostic or Fleet: once you add any, service writers pick from that list on every labor line and only admins can type a different number), a gross profit per hour goal that turns a job's profit per hour orange when it earns less, and one price per job on customer documents. Markup matrices is one card with a Parts / Labor menu. Parts is your markup percentage by cost bracket, which prices every part that flows in from PartsTech; brackets must cover every cost (a cost between brackets sells at cost, and the editor warns you), and each line runs from its "from" up to but not including its "under". Labor is ranges of book hours to multipliers (0 to 1h x1, 1 to 3h x0.9, 3h+ x0.85), applied once when a labor line comes from the labor guide; quoted or approved lines never change, and empty means off.
  • Taxes and fees. Tax rate and whether labor is taxed, the environmental fee (a percent of parts with an optional cap, or a flat charge per invoice), and the default shop supplies charge that pre-fills on every new quote: a percent of the job subtotal with an optional cap, or a flat amount. While untouched, a percentage follows line-item edits; editing it on a quote makes it that quote's own amount. Discount presets are here too: the named discounts the discount dialogs offer on jobs and whole repair orders, each with percent or dollars, what it reaches (all, parts, labor or fees) and, for a percent, an optional cap, so Military 10% capped at $125 never takes more than $125.

Paperwork

  • Quotes and invoices. Everything on the customer's paper. What customers see is a grid, Estimate and Invoice side by side: tick or untick labor hours, labor rate, part numbers and the technician's name, and the customer page, print view, PDF and emailed copy all follow it (prices, totals, tax and a part's brand always print). Fine print holds one text per document (estimate, invoice, inspection report), printed at its foot; the boxes start with CarSignal's terms, Start from a template adds plain-English boilerplate (warranty, payment terms, authorization, storage, diagnostic fee and more) without touching what is there, and Reset to CarSignal's terms puts ours back. Have your attorney read what you print. Approval terms are your own checkboxes per list (estimate approval, invoice signature), each Required or optional, previewed live; every save is a new version and each approval keeps the wording that was ticked. Note presets are short canned customer notes a writer adds to any car with one tap.

- ••• Document numbers. Next invoice INV-0042 · Next repair order RO-0017, with Set to move either forward when you continue a sequence from another system. Numbers only move forward.

Customers

  • Booking. Your public URL and embed snippet, then your booking page live in Settings with everything that changes it: how your shop shows at the top, the accent color, Phone or Desktop preview, whether customers pick or request times, whether your phone number shows, after-hours drop-off and courtesy ride, and who is emailed each new booking. Each pick saves at once and the preview follows. Below it: drop-off capacity, bays, lead time and utilization target. See Website booking.

- ••• Mobile service. You travel to the customer, within a radius; a mobile shop shows no address on its booking page.

  • Service menu. The catalog customers can book from. Each service can show a price on the booking page: no price (you quote by text), Free, a flat price, or a range.
  • Messaging. Carrier registration and your shop number for texting (see Texting setup), then the rules every outreach message obeys: quiet hours and weekdays only, and your shop's writing voice. What sends automatically is set on Outreach, Autopilot, not here. See Outreach.

- ••• Queue limits. The daily cap and the snooze default.

  • Receptionist. Call and text toggles, language and the transfer number. Shops with the call copilot also find Calls here: the phones that ring, the number customers forward to, and the recorded-line notice. See The AI receptionist.

Money in

  • Payments. CarSignal Payments (or Stripe) for online and in-person payment, your card readers, and Payment methods: your own named tenders (Venmo, Zelle, outside financing, a warranty write-off), each with the QuickBooks name it posts under. Books splits your financials into separate books (add, rename or archive one; archived books keep their history). See Getting paid.
  • Apps. PartsTech and part picking, QuickBooks, your email inbox, CARFAX, and bank accounts.

- ••• Webhooks and Slack. For anything else that should hear when a car moves. See Webhooks and Slack.

You

  • Account. Billing (admins): plan status and the Refer a shop card, see Pricing. Security: two-factor authentication for your own login, see Security.
  • Display, on your name. Text size (Standard, Compact, Large), High contrast, Color filter (Deuteranopia, Protanopia, Tritanopia) and Language are not a Settings page: click your name bottom-left of the sidebar and they sit under Display in that menu, for the device you set them on. Light or dark is the one button bottom-left of the sidebar beside your name, a moon while the app is light and a sun while it is dark. Customers never see it; their pages always print light. The mobile app has the same set under Me > Preferences.

- ••• Audit log. Every action in the shop, newest first, filtered by person, with each member's Sign-ins (time, IP address, browser or app, refused attempts). See Team and roles. - ••• Multi-shop. Brand settings shared across your locations. See Locations. - ••• Network insights. The two similar-vehicle insights switches: show the hints, and contribute your invoiced jobs to the cross-shop counts.

Old links into Settings still work: a bookmark or a link from another page opens the new home of what it pointed at.
